History
As a response to the Group Areas Act, a group of seven community leaders decided to
form the Amaanat Group in 1968. Specialising in developing and leasing residential
apartment blocks, their vision was to provide much-needed accommodation to
the local community, as well as offer a means of saving and wealth creation for
smaller investors.
The first property development, Amaanat
Mansions at 501 Brickfield Road (now Felix
Dlamini Road) in Overport, cost R168 000. This
was funded by the investments made by the
84 initial shareholders.
